Jury directed to find Hannah Quinn not guilty of samurai sword murder

On 10 December 2020, A NSW Supreme Court judge directed a jury to find a woman not guilty of murder over the samurai sword killing of a man in Sydney's inner west.

Hannah Quinn, 26, was standing trial with her boyfriend Blake Davis, 31, for the murder of home invader Jett McKee on August 10, 2018, following a botched robbery attempt by Mr McKee. They both pleaded not guilty to the charges.

But on Thursday, Justice Natalie Adams told the jury she was "satisfied as a matter of law there is no case of murder against [Ms Quinn] ... for you to consider".

Justice Adams said it may "seem odd to you that I've directed you to bring back that verdict" but they were required to follow directions of law.
